King Mitchy’s recent social media controversy has sparked a warning from Hypo Bleach manufacturers, Multipro Enterprise Limited, against consuming their product. The company emphasizes that Hypo is strictly for cleaning purposes, designed to remove stains, whiten fabrics, deodorize, and kill 99.9% of germs.
The warning follows a viral feud between King Mitchy and influencer VeryDarkMan, where Mitchy appeared to drink a substance alleged to be Hypo Bleach on a livestream, sparking panic and false reports of her death. Multipro Enterprise Limited has condemned the circulation of AI-generated images portraying Hypo as a beverage, describing such content as fabricated and dangerous.
The company has appealed to influencers, bloggers, and content creators to act responsibly, emphasizing that their reach comes with a responsibility to promote safe and healthy trends. “A trend that ends in ill-health is not a trend worth starting,” they stated.
Hypo Bleach has urged young Nigerians to prioritize their safety and seek help if struggling emotionally, emphasizing that it’s okay to ask for help and that mental health matters. The company also warned against peer pressure, stating, “You do not have to prove anything to anyone. Not online. Not offline. Not ever.
The controversy began when King Mitchy criticized VeryDarkMan over school renovation projects, claiming she renovated a school within six days and challenging him to provide N50 million to renovate four schools. VeryDarkMan responded by taking a substance from a Hypo sachet in a separate video, interpreted by many as a mocking reaction.
Multipro Enterprise Limited has expressed concern over the potential influence of such trends on younger social media users, calling on authorities to penalize those promoting harmful content. Parents, activists, and concerned Nigerians have described the trend as disturbing and dangerous.
The company has emphasized the importance of prioritizing mental health, encouraging individuals to seek help from trusted adults, counselors, or healthcare professionals. They also stressed the need for responsible social media usage, using the hashtag #HypoForASaferTomorrow.
