Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has sacked all his political aides, including Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs), as part of efforts to enhance efficiency and deepen service delivery. The governor thanked the outgoing aides for their contributions to the state’s development and wished them well in their future endeavors.
The move is aimed at strengthening coordination and injecting fresh capacity into the administration. Aiyedatiwa plans to appoint around 1,000 new aides from across the 203 wards in the 18 local government areas of the state. This decision is expected to broaden participation in governance and improve service delivery across communities in the state.
The affected officials were appointed in November 2025, and some had already resigned ahead of the 2027 general election cycle. The governor had previously appointed at least 344 SSAs and SAs in September 2024 to serve across the state .
The sackings are part of Aiyedatiwa’s efforts to reposition his administration for greater efficiency. The new appointments will be drawn from the 203 wards across the 18 local government areas, aiming to strengthen grassroots engagement and improve policy coordination.
Some of the sacked aides had expressed interest in contesting elections, including Hon Gbenga Omole, Fadairo Oluwafemi, and Dr Olusegun Victor Ategbole. The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, stated that the move was aimed at enhancing efficiency and service delivery.
The development signals a major restructuring aimed at repositioning the administration for improved governance and service delivery. The governor’s plan to appoint 1,000 new aides is expected to inject fresh energy and ideas into the administration.
The Ondo State Government has not released further details on the timeline for the new appointments or the specific roles the new aides will fill. However, stakeholders are keenly watching how the governor balances political considerations with competence in assembling the new team.
