The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has donated raincoats to officers and personnel of the Nigerian Army’s 9 Brigade, Ikeja, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare, operational efficiency and combat readiness of security personnel across Lagos State during the rainy season.
The presentation was led by the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, during a working visit to the Brigade Headquarters in Ikeja. He was received by the Commander, 9 Brigade, Brigadier General Ayokunle Owolabi, alongside the Chief of Staff, Colonel C. B. Anaukwu, Major Samuel Osaremen Omijie and other senior officers of the Brigade.
During the visit, troops of the Brigade paraded in formation wearing the ballistic helmets and bulletproof vests previously donated by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, underscoring the Lagos State Government’s sustained investment in equipping frontline security personnel with modern protective gear. The latest donation of raincoats is expected to further improve the troops’ ability to perform their duties effectively despite adverse weather conditions.
Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Ogunsan said the raincoats were intended to complement the earlier donation of ballistic helmets and bulletproof vests, reaffirming the Trust Fund’s commitment to supporting security agencies with essential operational equipment. He noted that the initiative reflects LSSTF’s determination to ensure that security personnel remain adequately protected and fully equipped to discharge their constitutional responsibilities regardless of prevailing weather conditions.
In his remarks, Brigadier General Ayokunle Owolabi expressed appreciation to Dr. Ogunsan and the Lagos State Security Trust Fund for their consistent support to the Nigerian Army. He described the intervention as timely and impactful, noting that the continued partnership has significantly enhanced the Brigade’s operational capability. As a mark of appreciation, the Brigade Commander presented a souvenir to the LSSTF CEO during the visit.
The donation forms part of LSSTF’s broader strategy to strengthen the capacity of security agencies through sustained investment in operational logistics, protective equipment and personnel welfare. It also reinforces the enduring partnership between the Lagos State Government and the Nigerian Armed Forces in promoting public safety, maintaining peace and enhancing security across the state.
