The Lagos State Police Command, through the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), in partnership with the Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has organised a sensitisation programme aimed at educating transport operators, traders and other community stakeholders on the dangers of drug abuse, cultism, election violence and other social vices.
The programme, which was held at the Apapa Iganmu LCDA Secretariat, focused on promoting public awareness, community collaboration and preventive measures against criminal activities.
Representing the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, the Area Commander of Area B Command, ACP Onyinyechi Onwuamaegbu, charged participants to distance themselves from all forms of criminality and embrace responsible and lawful behaviour.
ACP Onwuamaegbu highlighted the significant role of transport operators and traders in maintaining peace and security within their communities, urging them to collaborate with the Police by providing timely and credible information that could assist in tackling crime. She also cautioned against harbouring individuals involved in criminal activities.
The sensitisation programme featured goodwill messages from the Executive Chairman of Apapa Iganmu LCDA, Divisional Police Officers and other stakeholders, who underscored the importance of collective efforts in preventing crime and promoting peaceful coexistence.
The Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community partnerships and sustaining initiatives that promote safety, security and responsible citizenship across the state.
