The organisers of the prestigious Nigeria Media Nite-Out Awards have announced the 20th Anniversary Edition of the annual awards ceremony, scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 29, 2026, at the B. Event Centre, Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
Celebrating two decades of recognising excellence in journalism, broadcasting, public relations, entertainment and media practice, the 2026 edition is expected to serve as a milestone event, honouring the media industry’s invaluable contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development, good governance and national progress.
Themed “The Role of a Vibrant Press for the 2027 Nigerian Election and the Empowerment of the Youth,” this year’s anniversary edition will spotlight the critical responsibility of the media in promoting credible, balanced and issue-driven reporting ahead of the 2027 general elections. It will also highlight the importance of empowering young Nigerians through responsible journalism, innovation, civic participation and nation-building initiatives.
The event will feature the Director of Current Affairs at TVC News, Babajide Otitoju, as the Guest Speaker. Widely respected for his in-depth political analysis and decades of media experience, Otitoju is expected to deliver a keynote address examining the role of a free and responsible press in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy while inspiring the next generation of media professionals.
The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, MON, will attend as the Special Guest of Honour, underscoring the significance of the event as a platform for constructive engagement between government, the media and other critical stakeholders.
The anniversary celebration is expected to attract media executives, journalists, broadcasters, public relations practitioners, policymakers, corporate leaders, entertainers and other distinguished personalities from across the country. The gathering will recognise outstanding achievements by individuals and organisations whose contributions have continued to shape and advance Nigeria’s media landscape.
Speaking on the forthcoming event, the Convener of the Nigeria Media Nite-Out Awards, Sola Olugbemiro, described the 20th anniversary as a celebration of the resilience, professionalism and enduring impact of the Nigerian media industry over the past two decades.
According to him, the milestone represents more than an awards ceremony, serving as a platform to honour ethical journalism, celebrate excellence and acknowledge the media’s indispensable role in promoting accountability, democracy and national development.
The organisers also called on stakeholders across the media, government, private sector, development organisations and the general public to participate in the landmark event as the Nigeria Media Nite-Out Awards continues its mission of recognising excellence and strengthening the media’s contribution to nation-building.
