The Lagos State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities across the state, following the arrest of two suspected armed robbers and the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size Danne gun and three live cartridges.
The suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Command, in collaboration with a local vigilante group, during a crime prevention patrol in the Odogunyan area of Lagos State.
According to the Command, the security operatives intercepted the two suspects who were carrying a handbag and attempted to escape after sighting the patrol team. They were immediately pursued and arrested, while a search of the handbag in their possession led to the discovery of the locally made firearm and three live cartridges.


The suspects have been identified as Arowolo Damilola, 32, and Adewale Adeyinka, 29. They are currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, commended the officers and members of the local vigilante group for their alertness, swift response and effective collaboration, which contributed to the successful operation.
CP Fatai reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across Lagos State, warning criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities or face the full consequences of the law.
He also encouraged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that can assist in preventing crime and protecting communities.
