Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has alleged that soldiers attempted to prevent him from entering Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Davido reportedly made the claim in a post on his verified social media account on Saturday, August 15, 2026, as voters across the state headed to polling units to elect the next governor.
The singer, who has been openly involved in political activities surrounding the election, said he had received information that soldiers were trying to stop him from gaining entry into the state.
The allegation comes amid heightened security arrangements across Osun for the governorship poll. The Nigeria Police Force had announced restrictions on movement during the election period and directed non-state security outfits, including Amotekun, not to participate in election security operations.
Davido, a member of the Adeleke family, has previously shown strong support for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking another term in office.
His latest allegation has generated reactions on social media, coming at a time when security and the conduct of the election are receiving significant public attention.
As of the time of reporting, the allegation that soldiers attempted to prevent Davido from entering Osun had not been independently confirmed by the military.
The development adds to the growing political drama surrounding the Osun governorship election, with stakeholders urging security agencies and political actors to ensure that the electoral process remains peaceful and credible.
