Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), his journey represents a blend of security expertise, strategic leadership, political experience and dedicated public service.
As Mr. Tayo “The Buffalo” Ayinde celebrates his 62nd birthday today, August 24, 2026, the Executive Secretary/CEO of the LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, has joined family, friends and associates in celebrating the Lagos State Chief of Staff, describing him as an exceptional public servant and security-focused leader whose contributions have continued to impact governance and security in the state.
Ogunsan described Ayinde as a “security icon and a dependable pillar of Lagos’ security architecture,” noting that his membership of the LSSTF Board brings valuable experience and insight to the Fund’s efforts to strengthen security agencies and improve the state’s security infrastructure.
According to the LSSTF chief executive, Ayinde’s extensive background in security and governance has continued to contribute significantly to the Fund’s mission.
“Mr. Tayo Ayinde represents the rare combination of intelligence, discipline, political wisdom and loyalty to public service. His security background gives him a unique understanding of what our security agencies require, while his experience at the centre of Lagos governance enables him to appreciate the bigger picture.
“On behalf of the LSSTF family, I celebrate a big brother, a leader and a true Lagosian. May God grant you greater wisdom, strength, good health and many more years of impactful service,” Ogunsan said.
Born on August 24, 1964, Ayinde has built a career spanning intelligence, security, politics, administration and public service. He began his professional journey in the security sector and served as an officer of the State Security Service before retiring from the service in 2009.
Following his retirement, he transitioned into political strategy and public administration, eventually emerging as an influential figure within Lagos’ political and governance structure. In 2019, he was appointed Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a position he has retained into the administration’s second term.
His contributions to public service have also attracted recognition beyond Lagos, with the Presidency previously commending his diligence, dedication and commitment to duty, particularly in his support for the presidential candidacy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Widely known by the sobriquet “Mr. Buffalo,” a name associated with resilience, strength and strategic capacity, Ayinde’s 62nd birthday provides an opportunity to reflect on a career defined by service, leadership and institutional commitment.
For Ogunsan and the LSSTF, Ayinde’s birthday is not merely a celebration of longevity but an acknowledgement of his enduring contributions to Lagos State’s security and governance architecture.
