The Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) has called on Nigerians across religious divides to promote peace, tolerance and peaceful coexistence as Muslims mark the 2026 Maulud Nabiyy celebration.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Executive Director, Gbenga Soloki, the organisation said the commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) provides an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the values of compassion, unity and respect for humanity.
CAIDOV urged both Muslims and Christians to strengthen peaceful relationships and avoid actions capable of creating division or tension in their communities.
The organisation stressed that a peaceful and united society remains essential to Nigeria’s development and prosperity.
It also appealed to Nigerians to reject violence and religious intolerance, while encouraging religious leaders to use their platforms to promote forgiveness, understanding and peaceful interaction among their followers.
CAIDOV further called on the government and security agencies to ensure adequate protection of lives and property throughout the celebration.
The organisation also urged young people to reject hate speech and other activities that could threaten peace, encouraging them instead to become positive agents of peace within their communities.
According to CAIDOV, its advocacy remains focused on promoting human rights, justice and non-violence across the country.
The organisation expressed hope that the Maulud celebration would inspire greater unity and bring renewed peace to Nigerian homes and communities.
