New Netherlands coach Xavi Hernandez has promised to bring back the team’s attacking style, saying good football and positive results will help revive the Oranje.
Speaking at his first press conference on Tuesday, the former Barcelona midfielder said his aim is to build a team that dominates matches, plays offensively and makes Dutch fans proud.
Xavi, who replaces Ronald Koeman on a four-year deal, becomes the first foreign manager of the Netherlands in 48 years. He previously managed Barcelona, where he won the 2023 La Liga title.
The 2010 World Cup winner with Spain said he is excited about the challenge and wants to help the Netherlands end their history of falling short at major tournaments.
His first match will be a Nations League clash against Germany on September 24.
