The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date to accept or reject their admissions.
The new deadline is Wednesday, September 30, 2026, giving affected candidates an additional opportunity to take action on pending admission offers.
JAMB had earlier fixed August 31, 2026, as the deadline for candidates to indicate whether they intended to accept or reject their previous admissions. The extension applies to candidates with outstanding offers under both the regular and Central University and Inter-University Admission (CUIIA) categories.
CUIIA covers non-UTME admission categories, including Direct Entry, part-time, sandwich and distance-learning programmes, among others.
The Board advised candidates with pending admission offers to act before the new deadline rather than wait until the final day.
According to JAMB, candidates who accept their admission offers will be able to proceed with the printing and collection of their admission letters. Those who reject their offers will have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted”, allowing the Board to update its records accordingly.
JAMB also clarified that candidates who are no longer studying at the institution where they were previously offered admission, or who are currently enrolled in a different programme, may accept the outstanding admission and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the admission where necessary.
The Board further explained that candidates currently pursuing a second degree but who still have an unaccepted previous admission offer may reject the earlier offer and continue with their current programme.
For candidates who have secured admission in the 2026 admission exercise but still have an outstanding admission offer from an earlier year, JAMB said there is no cause for concern. Such candidates may reject the previous offer without affecting their 2026 admission.
JAMB stressed that the September 30 deadline is the final opportunity for affected candidates. At the expiration of the deadline, all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date that have neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically revert to “Not Admitted” status on the Board’s records.
The Board therefore urged all affected candidates to take immediate action to avoid losing their outstanding admission offers.
