Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit have rescued an abducted professional truck driver and neutralised two suspected kidnappers during an intelligence-led operation along the Papalanto–Ilaro Road.
The operation followed the abduction of the driver at about 11:10 p.m. on August 25, 2026, around the Ajibawo area of Ibese, Ogun State.
According to the police, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit immediately commenced efforts to locate the victim and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
Acting on actionable intelligence, the operatives traced the suspects to a hideout along the Papalanto–Ilaro Road, where they launched a counter-operation.
The police said two suspected kidnappers were neutralised during the operation, while other members of the gang reportedly fled the scene with varying degrees of injuries.
The operation also led to the recovery of items reportedly linked to the criminal group, while the rescued driver was safely reunited with authorities.
The Ogun State Police Command said the development represents another breakthrough in its efforts to tackle kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
The command further disclosed that the bodies of the two suspects had been deposited at a morgue for autopsy, while efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest other members of the gang who escaped.
The police assured residents of continued efforts to strengthen security across Ogun State and urged members of the public to provide useful information that could assist security agencies in preventing and responding to criminal activities.
