Donates Bulletproof Vests, Ballistic Helmets, Raincoats to NSCDC Personnel

The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, has urged the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to strengthen security around schools and critical infrastructure across Lagos State.
Ogunsan made the call on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, during his first official visit to the Lagos State Command of the NSCDC, where he donated 30 ballistic helmets, 30 bulletproof vests and 100 raincoats to enhance the operational capacity of the Corps.
The visit, which featured a guard of honour and a formal reception by officers of the Command, also provided an opportunity for the LSSTF chief to commend the NSCDC for its contributions to security in Lagos and encourage greater efforts in safeguarding schools and critical infrastructure.
Ogunsan described the NSCDC as a strategic partner in the state’s security architecture, noting the Corps’ significant contributions to the protection of lives, property and public assets.
He particularly stressed the need to prioritise the safety of children and young people, describing them as essential to the nation’s future.
He said, “Our children need to be safe. If we don’t do anything for the young ones, it’s like we are preparing for a very horrible future for ourselves.”
According to him, children should be able to attend school, learn in a secure environment and return home safely to their parents.
“It is high time that we begin to pay attention to our young ones. I want them to go to school and have peace of mind and come back to their parents after school. That’s when they feel the impact of security,” he added.
Ogunsan also urged the NSCDC to sustain its efforts in protecting critical infrastructure across the state.
“Please, sir, continue to keep an eye on critical infrastructures in our State,” he appealed.
He explained that the donation was intended both as recognition of the Corps’ efforts and as support for its personnel in carrying out their duties more effectively.
The LSSTF CEO further assured the Command of continued support, promising that additional operational equipment would be provided as resources become available.
Responding, the Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC, Adedotun Sunday Keshinro, thanked Ogunsan and the LSSTF for their continued logistical support, describing the latest donation as “a very good gesture.”
Keshinro said the equipment would boost the morale of personnel and improve their capacity to protect lives and property, as well as critical infrastructure across the state.
The Commandant also highlighted the infrastructural challenges confronting the Command, revealing that the Lagos State Government allocated 2,021 square metres of land on August 9, 2024, for the construction of a new six-storey NSCDC headquarters in Alausa.
He, however, said funding constraints had delayed the commencement of the project.
Keshinro commended Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde, for their roles in securing the land.
He also acknowledged the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, for providing another permanent facility at Iponri, which the Command has commenced refurbishing.
With 50 divisional offices and 10 area commands across Lagos, Keshinro said the NSCDC remained committed to maintaining a strong security presence throughout the state.
As schools resume and security threats continue to evolve, stronger collaboration among security agencies, government institutions and other stakeholders remains crucial to protecting schools, communities, critical infrastructure and vulnerable populations.
For the LSSTF, continued investment in security agencies and operational capacity remains an important part of ensuring the safety and security of Lagos residents and protecting the future of the next generation.
