Nollywood actress Adebimpe Oyebade Adedimeji, popularly known as Mo Bimpe, has responded to social media criticism surrounding a viral video showing her interacting with fellow actor Jide Awobona at a recent movie premiere.
The video, recorded during the September 2, 2026 premiere of A Mama Deola Wedding Story in Lagos, showed Mo Bimpe seated between Awobona and her husband, actor Lateef Adedimeji.
In the footage, Mo Bimpe was seen leaning towards Awobona while looking at something on her phone. The brief interaction subsequently attracted attention online, with some social media users questioning the nature of the exchange and speculating about Lateef Adedimeji’s reaction.
The reactions prompted discussions among social media users about boundaries, trust and interactions between married people and friends.
However, Mo Bimpe dismissed the concerns, describing the moment as an ordinary interaction between friends that had been unnecessarily subjected to public scrutiny.
In a statement shared on her Instagram Story on September 6, the actress said relationships should not automatically be viewed through the lens of insecurity or suspicion.
She explained that some marriages are built on trust, friendship, respect and confidence rather than fear or constant monitoring.
Mo Bimpe further argued that the fact that some people found her interaction with Awobona unusual reflected more about the relationships they were familiar with than about her own marriage.
The actress also described her husband as a secure man, maintaining that a brief conversation with a family friend should not be regarded as a threat to their marriage.
She added that healthy marriages still exist and suggested that people who are accustomed to unhealthy relationship dynamics might find such relationships difficult to understand.
Mo Bimpe and Lateef Adedimeji are among the well-known couples in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, and their relationship has frequently attracted public interest.
The latest controversy has once again highlighted how social media users can interpret brief moments involving celebrities, particularly when such moments involve relationships and marriage.
For Mo Bimpe, however, the viral clip does not represent a problem in her marriage, as she maintains that her relationship with her husband is founded on trust and mutual confidence.
