The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Obafemi Hamzat, have called on residents of Surulere and other Lagos communities to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The call was made on Saturday, September 26, 2026, during a mega empowerment programme organised by Gbajabiamila for residents of the Surulere Federal Constituency in Lagos.
Gbajabiamila urged residents to support the President’s bid for another term in office and back APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
The programme also featured the distribution of cash, vehicles and other empowerment items to beneficiaries within the constituency.
Speaking at the event, Hamzat highlighted the importance of political organisation and party structures in achieving electoral success. He also urged supporters to remain committed to the APC as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
The event forms part of growing political mobilisation by the APC in Lagos ahead of the 2027 elections. Earlier in September, the Lagos chapter of the party inaugurated a campaign council comprising more than 1,200 members to coordinate its mobilisation efforts for the presidential and governorship contests.
The campaign structure has former Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as chairman, with Hamzat serving as deputy chairman and former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro as Director-General.
Other prominent figures listed in the structure include former governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, Senator Tokunbo Abiru and Gbajabiamila.
The APC has said its campaign will focus on mobilising voters at the grassroots and highlighting the records of the party’s administrations at both federal and state levels.
Hamzat has also been involved in consultations and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 Lagos governorship election. In April, Gbajabiamila publicly expressed support for Hamzat’s governorship aspiration during a consultation by the deputy governor and APC leaders.
As political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, APC leaders in Lagos are expected to continue grassroots mobilisation and engagement with residents across the state.
