Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday, September 29, held a security council meeting with the state’s security chiefs to review security operations and strengthen preparedness ahead of the busy end-of-year period.
The meeting, held at the State House, Marina, focused on the security situation across Lagos and measures to sustain public safety as the state prepares for increased movement of residents, visitors and tourists during the Yuletide season.
The meeting also comes amid preparations for various religious, cultural and social events expected across the state, as well as increased political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Sanwo-Olu assured residents and visitors that his administration would continue to prioritise security and would not allow criminal elements to take advantage of the heightened activities expected across Lagos.
“We will not relent on our efforts to ensure that criminals don’t find a place for their evil activities in our state,” the governor said.
He explained that the meeting provided an opportunity for the government to receive updates on ongoing security operations, assess emerging challenges and strengthen coordination among the various security agencies operating in the state.
Among the security chiefs who attended the meeting were the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Fatai Tijani; Commander, NA 9 Brigade, Brig. Gen. A.O. Owolabi; Commander, NNS Beecroft, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu; Commander, NAF 651 Base Services Group, Air Commodore M.A. Imam; and Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr Ayodele Ogunsan.
Senior officials of the Lagos State Government were also present, including the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Tayo Ayinde; Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso; and Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the State, Lawal Pedro.
The meeting underscored the state government’s continued emphasis on collaboration among security agencies and proactive measures to maintain public safety as activities across Lagos intensify.
