OneHealth, a Nigerian digital-first pharmacy and healthcare platform, has introduced The Method, a medically supervised programme designed to provide structured clinical support for eligible patients seeking GLP-1-based weight-management care.
The initiative seeks to address concerns around access to medically guided weight-management treatment in Nigeria, where many people seeking assistance may turn to unregulated supplements, restrictive diets or unreliable health information.
According to OneHealth, GLP-1 medications are becoming increasingly available in Nigeria, but access to appropriate medical assessment, supervision and follow-up remains a challenge.
Speaking during a recent knowledge session, OneHealth Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Adeola Alli, said weight management should be treated as an ongoing healthcare need for people who require sustained clinical support.
“Weight management is often treated as a short-term problem, but for many people, it is a long-term health need, just like any other condition. People either struggle to access these treatments safely or access them without appropriate medical guidance. The Method exists to close that gap,” Alli said.
Rather than treating GLP-1 medicines as ordinary consumer products, The Method begins with medical screening, consultation and diagnosis to determine whether treatment is clinically appropriate.
Patients considered eligible may be prescribed medicines such as tirzepatide (Mounjaro) or semaglutide (Ozempic or Wegovy), with OneHealth stating that prescribed medicines are verified and dispensed through its pharmacy supply chain.
The programme combines medical consultation and diagnosis with prescription and dispensing, physician and pharmacist monitoring, personalised health coaching and progress tracking.
Lifestyle support within the programme covers areas including nutrition, physical activity and behavioural changes, while medication dosages may be reviewed and adjusted according to individual clinical response.
The service also includes home medication delivery and three months of gym access through OneHealth’s partnership with i-Fitness, alongside structured monitoring and reporting of patients’ progress.
“Medication may be part of the solution for an appropriate patient, but medical guidance, follow-up, active lifestyle, nutrition and long-term support all matter,” Alli said.
“That is what makes this a healthcare programme, rather than a simple prescription refill.”
According to the company, patients enrolled in The Method follow a structured care pathway covering screening and enrolment, medical consultation, medication dispensing, monitoring, lifestyle support and a formal review at the end of each treatment cycle.
During the review, the physician and pharmacist assess the patient’s progress and determine the next appropriate step, which could include adjusting the treatment plan, renewing it or concluding the programme.
The Method is offered through a monthly subscription, while corporate and Health Maintenance Organisation pricing is available on request.
The programme builds on OneHealth’s existing pharmacy and healthcare infrastructure, which connects patients, HMOs and pharmacy partners across Nigeria.
Alli said the initiative reflects OneHealth’s broader focus on improving access to verified medicines and healthcare services through digital infrastructure.
“OneHealth has always been about building a trusted digital health infrastructure so the average Nigerian can access vetted, verified medicines and healthcare solutions,” he said.
“The Method brings that same thinking to weight management, while keeping the quality, professional oversight and patient-centred approach that healthcare requires.”
OneHealth was founded by Alli in 2019 and says it has served more than 800,000 customers through a network of partner pharmacies across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Its healthcare offerings include an online pharmacy, PillFinda, Pillmova, The Method, Imani, Refill and Lumina, covering areas such as medicine delivery, pharmacy supply-chain services, logistics, maternal health and clinical information.
