The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State has introduced Quick Response (QR) codes to help eligible voters locate designated Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection centres ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Commission disclosed that the codes could be accessed through its official website and social media platforms, providing voters with a convenient way to identify their designated collection centres.
Speaking at a press conference at INEC’s Lagos headquarters, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Ayobami Salami, encouraged eligible voters to collect their PVCs, verify their registration details and obtain election-related information from official sources.
Salami emphasised the importance of voter participation as the Commission intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
INEC also revealed that preparations were ongoing in several operational areas, including the procurement and testing of voter accreditation devices, improvements to election result transmission systems, logistics planning, and the recruitment and training of election personnel.
According to the Commission, these measures are aimed at strengthening its operational capacity and ensuring an efficient and smooth electoral process.
The introduction of QR codes forms part of INEC Lagos’s efforts to improve access to voter information, encourage eligible citizens to verify their registration details and ensure they collect their PVCs before election day.
