The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has set the minimum cutoff mark for university admissions at 140. This applies to federal, state, and private universities in Nigeria for the 2025/2026 academic session.
While the minimum cutoff mark is 140, some universities may set higher cutoff marks based on their specific admission requirements. For instance, some federal universities like the University of Ibadan (UI) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have set their cutoff marks at 200. Other universities, like the University of Calabar (UNICAL), have adhered to the minimum cutoff mark of 140.
State universities have also set their cutoff marks, with some exceeding the minimum requirement. For example, Abia State University (ABSU) has set its cutoff mark at 180, while Ambrose Alli University (AAU) has set its cutoff mark at 140. Lagos State University (LASU) has set its cutoff mark at 195.
Most private universities have adhered to the minimum cutoff mark of 140. Institutions like Achievers University, Adeleke University, and Afe Babalola University have all set their cutoff marks at 140.
The minimum cutoff mark for polytechnics and colleges of education is 100. This applies to institutions that offer National Diploma (ND) and National Certificate in Education (NCE) programs.
Admission Requirements
Meeting the minimum cutoff mark does not guarantee admission, as universities consider other factors like O’level results, post-UTME screening scores, and catchment area. Prospective students must ensure they meet the specific requirements of their chosen institutions to increase their chances of admission.
