DANGOTE-REFINERY
The Dangote Refinery is set to commence free direct delivery of petrol across Nigeria starting September 15, 2025. The refinery will start by delivering petrol to 11 states, with plans to expand to other states subsequently. All petrol station owners nationwide are invited to register for free delivery and other benefits.
The petrol prices will vary depending on the location. For instance, petrol will be sold at N841 per litre in Lagos and the South West, while it will be sold at N851 per litre in Abuja, Delta, Rivers, Edo, and Kwara. The ex-gantry price of petrol will be N820 per litre.
The initiative aims to ease fuel distribution challenges, ensure nationwide availability, and stabilize retail prices for consumers. By providing free delivery, the refinery hopes to reduce the cost of petrol for end-users and make it more accessible. The Dangote Refinery has acquired 4,000 compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered tankers to enhance fuel distribution capacity and reduce transportation costs. The refinery plans to increase the number of CNG-powered trucks to 10,000 this year.
The Dangote Refinery’s initiative is expected to benefit end-users by providing easier access to petrol and stable prices. However, analysts note that it might negatively impact the downstream sector. Despite this, the refinery’s move is seen as a positive development for the country’s fuel supply chain.
The commencement of free delivery of petrol by the Dangote Refinery is a significant step towards improving the fuel supply situation in Nigeria. With its vast capacity and strategic plans, the refinery is poised to play a crucial role in meeting the country’s fuel needs.
