Police Get Boost with 59 Armored Vehicles to Combat Insecurity

Inspector-General of Police Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has commissioned armored Toyota Hilux vehicles to boost the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force. The vehicles are designed to withstand hostile fire and harsh terrains, enhancing the efficiency of tactical and special units in high-risk operations across the country.
These armored vehicles feature advanced protection, built to withstand hostile fire, providing safety for officers in high-risk operations. They’re also durable, designed for diverse terrains, ensuring mobility and speed in challenging environments. This will enable the police to respond quickly and effectively to security threats nationwide.
The commissioning of these vehicles is part of a broader reform plan to strengthen operations, enhance intelligence gathering, improve training, and enforce accountability within the Force. The IGP emphasized that the vehicles are strategic reinforcements, not ceremonial assets, and will play a crucial role in combating insecurity, enhancing public confidence, and modernizing policing.
The vehicles will contribute to declining crime rates and improved public trust in the police. The IGP stressed that the vehicles must be utilized effectively and lawfully, with commanders and tactical operatives held accountable for their deployment. He warned against misuse, emphasizing that every operation conducted with the vehicles must be lawful, proportionate, and decisive.
