The Ogun State Police Command has raided a suspected human and child trafficking facility in Abaren Village, Mowe, leading to the rescue of two pregnant women and four children and the arrest of six suspects.
The intelligence-led operation was carried out by operatives of the Mowe Divisional Police Headquarters at about 8:00 a.m. on August 24, 2026, at a facility located on Toluwalase Street.
According to reports, preliminary investigations indicated that the facility was allegedly being used for illegal adoption and child trafficking activities.
Among those rescued were two pregnant women, identified as 23-year-old Ilesanmi Foluke, who was seven months pregnant, and 20-year-old Ejekwa Melody, who was eight months pregnant. Four children—two boys and two girls—were also rescued during the operation.
The six suspects arrested were identified as Florence Glory Ogbona, 58; Magdalene Julius, 63; Chidike Egwuonwu, 40; Onyechu Chidike, 35; Stephen Ogbona, 39; and a nurse, Oseni Kusamotu Idaya.
Police investigations also traced another alleged victim, 26-year-old Blessing Bright Effiong, to a hospital in the Mowe area, where she reportedly gave birth to a baby boy on August 20. However, police said the whereabouts of the newborn remained unknown, prompting the arrest of the nurse to assist the investigation.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation, including efforts to locate the missing newborn and establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged trafficking activities.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating human trafficking and child exploitation.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
The police stressed that investigations are ongoing, while the suspects remain subject to due legal process as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the alleged trafficking operation.
