Music legend Lionel Richie has been hospitalised in an intensive care unit (ICU) in St. Louis, Missouri, following his concert at The Muny in Forest Park on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
According to reports, the 77-year-old singer checked himself into a local hospital after the performance to undergo medical tests. The hospitalisation was reportedly precautionary, with doctors investigating possible slight dehydration.
Richie appeared to struggle towards the end of the concert and reportedly asked his team to bring him a chair while performing his final song, “All Night Long.” Despite the incident, he completed the performance.
A source close to Richie’s ongoing tour told Rolling Stone that the singer is okay, although no detailed medical information has been released by his representatives.
The latest health concern comes just months after Richie experienced another medical scare during a concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, in June. He reportedly became dizzy and ended the performance early, prompting medical attention and the postponement of subsequent shows.
Richie is currently touring with Earth, Wind & Fire on the “Sing a Song All Night Long” tour. His next scheduled performance is reportedly in San Francisco on September 26.
Richie, a four-time Grammy Award winner and former member of the Commodores, has enjoyed a career spanning more than five decades. He is known for global hits including “Hello,” “All Night Long” and “Say You, Say Me,” and has also served as a judge on “American Idol.”
