The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has announced the commencement of its campaign activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with its presidential candidate, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, scheduled to inaugurate the party’s presidential campaign office in Abuja on Monday.
According to the party, the newly established national coordinating hub for the Makinde/Daura presidential campaign will serve as the centre for coordinating an issue-based and people-focused campaign aimed at mobilising support ahead of the election.
The APM said the campaign would focus on practical solutions while presenting Governor Makinde’s policy choices and record in governance as key areas of engagement with Nigerians.
The party stated that it was approaching the presidential race with confidence and humility, expressing its commitment to offering what it described as a credible alternative leadership option focused on improving security, economic growth, national unity, and public confidence.
The APM also claimed that since Makinde and Lawan Daura emerged as its presidential and vice-presidential candidates, respectively, the party said it had experienced increased membership and support, which it attributed to public confidence in their records of service and integrity.
The party described Makinde’s candidacy as a combination of administrative experience, competence, youthful energy, and public acceptance, which it said would help build a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Nigeria.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, the APM said Governor Makinde had embarked on consultations with political leaders, stakeholders, and communities across the country to understand citizens’ concerns and develop an agenda aimed at addressing national challenges.
“Before the commencement of the campaign, our candidate undertook extensive consultations with political leaders, stakeholders, and communities across the country. These engagements were aimed at understanding the hopes and concerns of Nigerians and developing a national agenda that responds to the challenges facing the nation,” the statement read.
The party added that it would soon unveil a comprehensive policy blueprint outlining practical and measurable solutions alongside Governor Makinde’s vision for effective governance.
Speaking on the political landscape ahead of the 2027 election, the APM said Nigerians would have the opportunity to decide on the direction of the country, contrasting its proposed agenda under Makinde with what it described as the shortcomings of the current administration.
The party maintained that voters would use their democratic rights to elect a leadership that is competent, accountable, and responsive, adding that the APM platform would provide a new direction for Nigeria.
