President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former Group Chief Executive Officer of First Bank of Nigeria, Oloye Dr Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan, on his installation as the Balogun of Oyo.
Adeduntan was formally installed into the traditional position by the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Adeduntan as a distinguished professional whose contributions have extended beyond banking to education, philanthropy and national development.
The President recalled Adeduntan’s career in banking and finance, particularly his tenure as Group Chief Executive Officer of First Bank, where he oversaw what the Presidency described as a far-reaching transformation of one of Nigeria’s oldest and most significant financial institutions.
Tinubu also acknowledged Adeduntan’s contributions to education and public service, including his role as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Abiola Ajimobi Technical University.
The President further highlighted the philanthropic activities of the Adesola Adeduntan Foundation, noting its investments in modern primary healthcare centres serving communities in Oyo and Ibadan, as well as Adeduntan’s involvement in Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.
Tinubu urged the new Balogun to bring the same discipline, strategic vision and commitment to excellence that characterised his professional career to his new traditional responsibilities.
The President said the installation represented both an honour and a call to greater service, urging Adeduntan to use his experience, influence and resources to promote peace, create opportunities, support development and preserve the cultural heritage of the Oyo Kingdom.
He expressed confidence that Adeduntan would continue to make meaningful contributions to the Alaafin, the people of Oyo and the wider society in his new role.
