The operation followed credible intelligence received on March 5, 2026, regarding the alleged possession of illegal firearms and other dangerous weapons by suspected criminals operating across Adamawa and Taraba States.
Acting on the information, SWAT operatives commenced discreet intelligence-driven investigations, which culminated in the arrest of 40-year-old Alhaji Gayi Ibrahim Yahaya, a resident of Toungo Local Government Area of Adamawa State, on August 25, 2026.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to tackling criminal activities, dismantling illegal arms networks, recovering prohibited weapons, and enhancing the safety and security of citizens.
The Force also urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies, noting that intelligence sharing remains crucial to effective crime prevention and control.
