Union Bank of Nigeria has received recognition for its commitment to gender inclusion, winning the Most Outstanding Bank in Gender Inclusion award at the Women in Marketing and Communications Conference and Awards (WIMCA) 2026.
The prestigious event was held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Landmark Event Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The recognition highlights Union Bank’s efforts to promote gender diversity by fostering an inclusive workplace and financial ecosystem that supports women, female entrepreneurs, and professionals through tailored financial solutions, capacity-building programmes, mentorship, networking opportunities, and access to broader economic opportunities.
The 2026 edition of WIMCA, themed “Grow, Give, Glow: Building Resilience for Distinction,” brought together prominent female marketing and communications professionals from across Africa to discuss industry developments, leadership, resilience, and the advancement of women within the brand and marketing ecosystem.
Described as one of Africa’s leading gatherings of female marketing and communications professionals, the conference featured prominent industry voices, including Union Bank’s Chief Brand and Marketing Officer, Mrs. Olufunmilola Aluko, who was also recognised among the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications.
Reacting to the recognitions, Mrs. Aluko said the awards reaffirmed Union Bank’s commitment to gender inclusion as an important driver of institutional excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth.
She noted that the Bank remained committed to supporting initiatives that enable women to build successful careers, take on leadership roles, and make meaningful contributions to the marketing and communications industry.
According to her, the recognition would further strengthen Union Bank’s determination to create greater opportunities for women across its workforce, customer base, and the wider society.
WIMCA was established by Brand Communicator, a Nigerian brand and marketing magazine, as a platform dedicated to celebrating female leadership and promoting greater participation by women in the brand, marketing, and communications industry.
Union Bank said it would continue to support platforms and initiatives focused on women’s empowerment and meaningful participation across the marketing and communications sector.
The Bank also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting inclusive growth, expanding opportunities for women, and contributing to the continued development of Nigeria’s brand, marketing, and communications landscape.
