Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede has marked his 60th birthday by reflecting on a journey defined by faith, family, service and a longstanding commitment to developing institutions, empowering people and creating opportunities.
In a personal message shared on LinkedIn, the businessman and philanthropist expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life, the support of family and friends, and the opportunity to live a purposeful life.
Reflecting on the various stages of his journey, Aig-Imoukhuede said the idea of building had remained a central theme throughout his life.
According to him, his journey has been about building institutions, developing people, creating opportunities and contributing to a stronger Africa.
He also described his life beyond professional achievements, saying it has been shaped by values centred on faith, family, service and a desire to leave a lasting impact.
Aig-Imoukhuede acknowledged the contribution of the people who have supported him throughout his journey. He expressed appreciation to his wife, Ofovwe, their children, family members, friends, colleagues, business partners and mentors for their support, encouragement and shared commitment to his various endeavours.
He also remembered his late mother, Pastor Emily, and his close partner, Herbert, acknowledging the important roles they played in his life and the lasting influence of their memories.
Looking back to his 50th birthday, Aig-Imoukhuede recalled describing himself as “God’s Work in Progress.” A decade later, he said the expression still accurately captures his outlook.
For him, turning 60 represents not an end point, but the beginning of another chapter dedicated to purposeful work and service.
As he begins the new decade, Aig-Imoukhuede expressed a desire to continue his efforts with greater intentionality, wisdom and generosity, particularly in strengthening institutions, expanding opportunities and positively transforming lives.
His reflection therefore goes beyond celebrating six decades of life. It serves as a renewed commitment to the values of service, purpose and sustainable impact.
With a continued focus on developing people and institutions capable of creating lasting change, Aig-Imoukhuede says his work of building is far from over.
He concluded his reflection by expressing gratitude for the journey and reaffirming his determination to continue building.
“Sixty years. Deeply thankful. Still building,” he said, giving all glory to God.
