Russia has renewed its warning to diplomats and foreign nationals in Kyiv to leave the Ukrainian capital, citing the threat of further “massive” strikes.
The warning was issued by Russia’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday as Moscow continues its military offensive against Ukraine, with Kyiv facing repeated missile and drone attacks in recent weeks.
In a statement, the ministry said it had previously advised foreign nationals and diplomats in Kyiv to leave the city and refrain from travelling to Ukraine.
It expressed concern that some people had not heeded the warning, saying they were knowingly exposing themselves to serious danger.
The ministry also said Russian forces would continue to carry out what it described as “massive retaliatory strikes”, adding that responsibility for any potential consequences would rest with those who ignored the warning.
The latest statement came a day after Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the Ukrainian capital needed to operate on a war footing following attacks affecting bridges and energy infrastructure.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of violating the rules of armed conflict through large-scale attacks on civilian areas. The Kremlin has rejected such accusations.
The renewed warning comes as fighting between Russia and Ukraine continues, with Kyiv remaining a major focus of Russian missile and drone attacks.
