In a statement marking Nigeria Reputation Day 2026 on Thursday, October 15, the group said the theme, “Own the Narrative: Shaping Nigeria’s Reputation Together,” highlights the need for citizens and institutions to promote the country’s image through positive actions and genuine national development.
The group acknowledged Nigeria’s strengths, including the creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, cultural influence and resilience of its people, while noting that challenges affecting public trust, investor confidence and international perceptions require urgent attention.
Ahead of the forthcoming 2027 general elections, NRMG urged political leaders and parties to respect democratic institutions, uphold the rule of law and prioritise national interests over personal ambitions. It also called for an end to electoral violence, intimidation, hate-driven conduct and other anti-democratic practices.
The organisation stressed that peaceful, credible and orderly elections would help strengthen Nigeria’s democratic standing, while warning that political competition should not come at the expense of national unity, peace and human lives.
NRMG reaffirmed its commitment to promoting reputation management as a tool for national development, economic competitiveness and public trust. It also identified the forthcoming World Public Relations Forum in Abuja in early November as an opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s contributions to the global public relations community.
The group urged the government, private sector, media, professional organisations, civil society groups and citizens to work together towards building a national reputation that reflects Nigeria’s aspirations and earns international confidence.
