The widow of late Nigerian gospel singer, Toluwanisings, Damilola Olayemi, has reportedly agreed to have her husband buried at their residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, following the resolution of a disagreement over his final resting place.
The development was announced by the singer’s close associate and colleague, Lanre Alewilese, in a video shared on Instagram on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
Alewilese disclosed that the disagreement between the widow and the singer’s father had been settled, describing the situation as a misunderstanding. He also appealed to Nigerians to stop criticising Olayemi and allow her to grieve in peace.
The controversy began after members of the late singer’s family alleged in a viral interview that Olayemi had opposed their plan to bury him at their Ibadan residence and preferred a cemetery burial.
However, the singer’s father reportedly insisted that his son should be buried at the family home or, if that arrangement was not possible, taken to his hometown and laid to rest beside his late mother.
The disagreement attracted widespread reactions on social media, with some users criticising the widow and questioning the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
Speaking in the Instagram video, Alewilese urged the public to show compassion towards Olayemi, describing her as a young woman going through a difficult period.
“Please, for God’s sake, let peace reign. Damilola is very young for what she’s currently going through. I’m very close to the deceased; his wife is accommodating. All his band members can attest to this,” he said.
He further confirmed that both parties had reached an agreement on the burial location.
“The disagreement between Toluwanisings’ father and his widow has been resolved. What happened was just a misunderstanding. The duo have agreed to bury Toluwanisings at his house,” Alewilese stated.
He also appealed to the singer’s fans and other Nigerians to respect the family’s privacy and avoid further attacks on the widow.
“If you truly love the singer, let his wife have peace now that his burial place has been resolved,” he added.
The reported agreement marks a development in the dispute that had generated considerable public attention, as the late gospel singer’s loved ones seek to settle his final burial arrangements.
