Anthony Joshua dominated Jake Paul in their heavyweight bout in Miami, securing a sixth-round knockout victory. The British boxer, a two-time heavyweight champion, utilized his 6-inch reach advantage to land precise jabs and hooks, ultimately wearing down Paul.
Joshua’s power was evident as he dropped Paul twice in the fifth round and once more in the sixth, before delivering the final blow – a devastating right hand that left Paul struggling to get up. Referee Christopher Young stopped the fight at 1:31 of the sixth round, awarding Joshua the win.
Despite being considered the underdog, Paul showed resilience, lasting longer than expected against the formidable Joshua. However, the weight difference (Joshua at 243 lbs, Paul at 216 lbs) and experience gap proved too significant to overcome.
Joshua praised Paul’s determination, saying, “Jake Paul has done really well tonight. I want to give him his props. He got up, time and time again” Meanwhile, Paul revealed he suffered a “double broken jaw” and joked about fighting Canelo Alvarez in 10 days.
The victory positions Joshua for potential title fights, including a possible rematch with Oleksandr Usyk or a long-awaited bout with Tyson Fury. Joshua teased, “If Tyson Fury is as serious as he thinks he is… let’s see you in the ring.
The event drew celebrities like Rory McIlroy and Juan Soto, with Netflix streaming the fight to approximately 300 million subscribers .
