The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has accepted to serve as the Royal Father of the Day at the New Telegraph Awards Night and Dinner scheduled to hold this Friday at the Grand Ballroom of the Oriental Hotel, Lagos.
In the same vein, veteran journalist and former Governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, has also confirmed his acceptance as Chairman of the prestigious event.
The New Telegraph Awards Night and Dinner is a high-profile gathering that celebrates excellence across sectors, bringing together state governors, captains of industry, leaders in banking and finance, senior public and private sector executives, as well as notable sports personalities.
So far, nine state governors from different parts of the country have confirmed their attendance, while other award recipients have expressed excitement and anticipation ahead of the ceremony.
In a letter conveying its decision to the Ooni of Ife, the management of Daily Telegraph Publishing Company – publishers of New Telegraph, Saturday Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph—said the monarch was selected in recognition of his commitment to excellence, service to humanity and dedication to the public good during his more than 10 years on the throne.
The letter noted that his choice was informed not only by his position as the Paramount Ruler of one of Nigeria’s largest and most homogenous ethnic nationalities, but also by his exemplary leadership, integrity and consistent promotion of excellence throughout his reign.
The letter was personally delivered to the monarch by the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, Mr. Ayodele Aminu.
Similarly, Aremo Osoba – former Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Times and Grand Patron of the Nigerian Guild of Editors was chosen as Chairman of the event in recognition of his enduring bond with the journalism profession, many years after serving as governor.
Despite his status as a leading political figure, Osoba remains actively involved in the affairs of journalists and editors across the country.
According to Aminu, Osoba represents the ideal professional role model, having remained connected to his roots and consistently identifying with colleagues across generations, regardless of age or experience.
