Ini Archibong, Strategy Director at Chastest Consult and a respected voice in media management, public affairs, and strategic communications, has called on stakeholders across Akwa Ibom State to engage the administration of Umo Eno through constructive dialogue, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to the state’s progress.
Speaking with journalists after a consultative meeting in Abuja, Archibong emphasised that while the governor’s achievements deserve recognition, the long-term development of the state depends on an informed and engaged citizenry rather than uncritical praise.
“Akwa Ibom belongs to all of us; it is not the exclusive preserve of any individual, party, or administration,” Archibong said. “Stakeholders across political parties, civil society, and the diaspora have both the right and responsibility to express their views. However, such engagements must be guided by facts, genuine concern for the people, and the civility our state deserves.”
He also cautioned against what he described as distractions from individuals or groups who criticise the administration for political advantage rather than genuine public interest.
“There is a clear distinction between constructive and destructive opposition,” he noted. “No governor has all the answers, and Governor Eno himself would benefit from a credible opposition that challenges policies with ideas, holds leadership accountable with evidence, and offers workable alternatives. That kind of engagement strengthens governance, while needless noise does not.”
Archibong further expressed admiration for the administration’s development efforts, noting that several initiatives underway in the state reflect a clear trajectory toward growth and stability.
“I have travelled widely across the world, and I can say with confidence that the scale and quality of development in Akwa Ibom today compare favourably with what is seen in more advanced economies,” he said. “Governor Eno has fostered peace, stability, and a renewed sense of purpose in the state while addressing infrastructure gaps and positioning Akwa Ibom as a strategic hub in the South-South region.”
He highlighted ongoing projects under the administration, including investments in educational infrastructure, the Ibom Model Farms initiative, the construction of a new jetty in Oron, shoreline protection works, and the development of warehouses and cold rooms to support fishing communities and expand trade. Other initiatives include the upgrade of the Akwa Ibom International Airport ahead of the planned commencement of international flights in April 2026, extensive road construction projects, the development of the ARISE Palm Resort expected to generate significant annual revenue when fully operational, the Senior Citizens Centre recently commissioned by Oluremi Tinubu, and the development of new urban centres across the state.
“These are not merely projects but long-term foundations,” Archibong stated. “My support for this administration is rooted in the hope that these initiatives will position Akwa Ibom as a globally competitive state—one capable of attracting foreign direct investment and encouraging members of the diaspora to return home and contribute to development.”
He also made it clear that his support remains principled rather than unconditional. Drawing on his professional experience advising governments and institutions across Africa, the United Kingdom, and North America, Archibong said he remains committed to offering honest feedback when necessary.
“I am not here simply to applaud. I am here as a stakeholder who desires measurable results,” he said. “Where the governor performs well, I will commend him. Where improvements are needed, I will also say so through the appropriate channels and with the right intention—always in the interest of our collective progress.”
Archibong also commended the appointment of Raymond Abia as Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Inter-Governmental Affairs, describing it as a thoughtful and strategic decision.
“Raymond Abia has distinguished himself in both the public and private sectors. His experience in the oil and gas industry, strong international networks, and personable disposition make him well suited for this role. He will have my full support,” he added.
The remarks follow a recent meeting of the Arise with Renewed Hope Initiative FCT chapter, where advisory and sub-committee members were inaugurated with a mandate to mobilise ahead of the APC National Congress and support the continued leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno.
