The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has deployed 2,150 officers and men alongside operational assets across the state to ensure adequate security and prevent acts of vandalism against critical national infrastructure during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
This follows the Federal Government’s declaration of Wednesday, 27th May, and Thursday, 28th May, 2026, as public holidays to mark the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir festivities, as announced by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The Lagos State Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, stated that the deployment is necessary to guarantee proactive security coverage before, during, and after the celebration, noting the expected influx of residents, travellers, and visitors into the state.
He explained that the operational strategy is designed to strengthen surveillance, deter criminal activities, and curb vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure, which could negatively impact the state’s economic growth and development during the festive period.
Personnel have been deployed across strategic locations, including critical national assets, infrastructure corridors, oil pipeline installations, religious centres, recreational facilities, parks, and gardens, as well as other key public spaces.
The Commandant further directed officers and men to remain on high alert, discharge their duties professionally, and uphold strict discipline while ensuring respect for the rights and dignity of citizens at all times.
Mr. Keshinro also extended his felicitations to the Muslim faithful in Lagos State on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, urging them to embrace the values of sacrifice, prayer, compassion, sobriety, and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon him).
He further called on Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for peace, unity, and national progress.
