A new thought-leadership podcast, Policy Without Politics, has officially launched, providing a platform for deeper public understanding of the policies that influence economies, businesses, markets and everyday life.

Speaking on the vision behind the initiative, Dr. Ken Ikpe explained that policies influence every aspect of society, stressing the importance of making policy conversations accessible and relevant to a wider audience.
“Policy touches every life, every business and every economy. Our goal is to make these conversations accessible, practical and useful, so that more people can understand how policy decisions translate into real outcomes,” he said.
The debut episode, titled “Policy vs Implementation: Why Nigeria’s Good Ideas Keep Failing,” explores one of Nigeria’s most critical development challenges — whether the country’s struggles stem from weak policy formulation, poor implementation, inadequate accountability, or a lack of political commitment.
The episode examines key national issues, including fuel subsidy reforms, electricity pricing, healthcare insurance, education, IMF recommendations, telecommunications, foreign exchange management and social welfare programmes.
During the discussion, Mustafa Chike-Obi challenged the perception that welfare programmes alone can drive economic progress, emphasising the need for increased productivity and sustainable wealth creation.
“Charity is good, but you can only give charity when you have it. When you have limited resources, you must produce first, then be charitable later. Charity first never leads to production,” he stated.
Other episodes already developed by the podcast continue to explore important economic and governance issues. Mustafa Chike-Obi is a distinguished financial services professional with over four decades of experience in investment banking and financial services. He served as the pioneer Chief Executive Officer of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) and has held senior positions at leading global financial institutions, including Goldman Sachs, Bear Stearns and Guggenheim Partners. He is a First Class Mathematics graduate of the University of Lagos and holds an MBA from Stanford University.
Dr. Ken Ikpe brings over three decades of experience in business leadership, advisory services, brand management and communications. He is a former Group Chief Executive Officer of Insight Redefini Group, regarded as one of Sub-Saharan Africa’s leading marketing communications and consumer consulting organisations. He holds a PhD in Development Economics from the Academy of Sciences, School of African Studies, Moscow, and is associated with the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University. He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Marketing and a recognised figure in Nigeria’s advertising industry.
Further explaining the purpose of the podcast, Mustafa Chike-Obi said the platform is focused on finding practical answers rather than engaging in political arguments.
“We are not interested in politics for its own sake. We are interested in what works, why it works, why good ideas fail, and what must change if policy is to deliver real progress,” he said.
