The campaign team of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) candidate for Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency I, Comrade Lukman Ibrahim Alabi, has dismissed reports questioning his participation and victory in the party’s May 29, 2026 primary election, describing the allegations as false, misleading and a deliberate attempt to undermine the outcome of the exercise.
In a statement issued on Monday in Lagos, Alabi’s Media Office said both video evidence and the official report of the party’s Electoral Committee confirmed that the candidate fully participated in the primary and emerged victorious.
The campaign alleged that the reports formed part of a sustained misinformation campaign aimed at discrediting Alabi and creating unnecessary controversy over the outcome of the primary election.
According to the statement, those behind the latest claims had previously alleged that Alabi failed to attend the party’s screening exercise—an accusation the campaign said had already been disproved.
“At an earlier time, they falsely claimed that our principal did not attend the party screening exercise—a claim that was thoroughly debunked.
“Now, the same actors have shifted their attention to the primary election, attempting to question his participation and legitimacy. This recurring pattern appears to be a calculated effort to cast doubt on the credibility of the process,” the statement said.
The media office maintained that Alabi attended, participated in and completed the NDC Lagos State primary election held on May 29, 2026.
While acknowledging that the exercise was not without challenges, the campaign alleged that some disruptions were linked to supporters of a rival aspirant. It, however, insisted that Alabi remained at the venue and actively participated throughout the exercise.
“Despite the challenges and incidents recorded during the primary, our principal remained present and fully engaged from start to finish.
“Video footage clearly shows him at the venue participating in the process, and the evidence has been made available to relevant party stakeholders,” the statement added.
The campaign also described Alabi as a calm and disciplined politician who prefers to focus on service and constituency development rather than public exchanges.
“Comrade Alabi is known for his calm, focused and disciplined disposition. However, his quiet nature should never be mistaken for weakness or an inability to respond to falsehood.
“He will always defend the truth, uphold his integrity and protect the mandate freely given to him by party members and delegates,” the statement said.
It added that the candidate remained focused on engaging with constituents and advancing his political agenda rather than being distracted by what it described as baseless allegations.
The campaign urged NDC members, party stakeholders and residents of Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency I to disregard what it called unverified claims challenging the outcome of the primary election.
“Our principal remains committed to service, unity and responsible leadership. No amount of propaganda or misinformation will distract him from the work ahead,” the statement said.
The media office further called on the leadership of the NDC to take appropriate action against individuals found to be deliberately spreading false information capable of causing disunity within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It concluded by urging party members to respect the outcome of the primary and unite behind the party’s candidate.
“Politics should be about ideas and service, not blackmail or the manipulation of public opinion.
“The delegates have spoken. The Electoral Committee has certified the outcome. It is time for everyone to move forward together.”
