Nestlé Nigeria Plc has commenced applications for its 2026/2027 Community Scholarship Programme, offering financial support to eligible students from its host communities as part of its continued investment in education and youth development.
The initiative, which has been running since 2020, is aimed at easing the financial burden of education for outstanding students while promoting academic excellence in Science and Technology-related disciplines. Since its inception, the programme has benefited more than 250 students across the company’s host communities.
According to Nestlé Nigeria, the scholarship covers tuition fees, books and other academic expenses, enabling beneficiaries to concentrate on their studies without the financial pressures that often hinder educational success.
The company said the programme has continued to deliver impressive results, with more than 70 per cent of monitored beneficiaries either maintaining First Class academic standing or graduating with First Class honours, demonstrating the positive impact of sustained educational support.
Applications for this year’s edition are open to qualified students from Agbara, Sagamu and Abaji.
To qualify under the tertiary category, applicants must be 100-level students studying Science or technology-related courses and must have scored at least 200 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
For the secondary school category, applicants must be SS1 Science students who obtained a minimum of five credit passes in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Nestlé advised interested applicants to complete the online application carefully and provide accurate information, noting that all submissions will be verified by educational institutions, community unions and community leaders before successful candidates are selected. Applications will close on August 28, 2026.
One of the programme’s success stories, Kazeem Fatai, who recently graduated with a First Class degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), said the scholarship inspired him to remain focused throughout his academic journey.
He described the scholarship as more than financial assistance, saying it strengthened his determination to graduate with distinction and encouraged him to pursue excellence despite academic challenges.
Commenting on the programme, Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability Lead at Nestlé Nigeria, said the company views education as one of the most effective ways of empowering communities and creating long-term social impact.
She explained that the scholarship programme reflects Nestlé’s commitment to building stronger communities by investing in young people, adding that providing access to quality education today will help develop the skilled workforce and future leaders needed for Nigeria’s sustainable growth.
According to her, the Community Scholarship Programme forms part of Nestlé for Good, the company’s broader sustainability agenda focused on education, youth empowerment, nutrition awareness, skills development and community advancement.
Through the initiative, Nestlé Nigeria continues to reinforce its commitment to creating shared value by equipping young Nigerians with the educational opportunities and support required to achieve their full potential and contribute meaningfully to national development.
