Staff of Globacom, Nigeria’s leading telecommunications company, have marked the company’s 23rd anniversary with a colourful sports festival designed to promote teamwork, camaraderie and employee engagement.
Tagged Glo FitFest 2026, the event was held at The Stable, Surulere, Lagos, where employees from different departments gathered for a day of sporting activities, entertainment and celebration.
The festival featured a variety of games, including table tennis, Big Ludo, Big Snooker, Sack Race, Big Ayo and a football competition involving teams drawn from different departments of the company.
The departmental teams were grouped into clusters, creating opportunities for employees from different areas of the business to interact, collaborate and compete in a friendly atmosphere.
Dressed in specially designed colourful T-shirts for the occasion, the staff added vibrancy to the event as they participated enthusiastically in the various competitions.
Football emerged as one of the major highlights of the festival, with teams battling for honours and departmental bragging rights.
Team Rockets, comprising employees from the Sales Force and Value Added Services departments, emerged champions after defeating Strikers FC, whose squad featured staff from the Rollout, Information Systems, Gloworld Development and E-Pin departments.
Team Rockets received a trophy and a cash prize of N1 million, while the runners-up were rewarded with N750,000. Players from both teams also received medals for their performances.
Winners in the other sporting categories were similarly recognised with medals and cash prizes.
Beyond the competitive aspect, the event provided Globacom employees with an opportunity to step away from their regular workplace routines, relax and strengthen relationships with colleagues.
The atmosphere was marked by music, laughter, dancing and friendly rivalry, reinforcing the spirit of togetherness among members of the Glo family.
The celebration also served as an opportunity to recognise the contribution of employees to Globacom’s 23-year journey of growth, innovation and service in Nigeria.
With its combination of sporting competition, entertainment and team-building activities, Glo FitFest 2026 offered employees an avenue to celebrate the company’s anniversary while fostering stronger bonds across departments.
