Interswitch, a leading African payments and digital commerce company, has announced the sixth edition of its TechConnect industry engagement series, with a focus on strengthening financial infrastructure to meet the changing demands of Nigeria’s digital economy.
The 2026 edition, themed “Built for What’s Next: Designing Adaptive Financial Infrastructure for a Dynamic Market,” is scheduled to begin in Owerri, Imo State, on September 24 before moving to Abuja, Ibadan and Lagos in October.
The initiative will bring together stakeholders from government, financial services, technology and the wider business community to discuss the infrastructure, partnerships and capabilities needed to support increasingly digital and interconnected markets.
The Owerri edition, which will take place at Protea Hotel, will feature a keynote address, fireside chat, panel discussion, product demonstrations and networking sessions.
The keynote address will be delivered by Justice R. Okoye, FCA, ACTI, Executive Chairman of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service. He is expected to examine how adaptive financial infrastructure can strengthen institutions, improve service delivery and support broader economic participation.
Speaking ahead of the programme, Tyoyila Aga, Vice President, Business Innovation and Growth at Interswitch, said organisations need to build infrastructure that can adapt to continuous changes in markets, customer expectations and business requirements.
According to her, financial systems must be scalable, interoperable, secure and resilient enough to accommodate emerging services, channels and business models.
A major feature of the Owerri programme will be a panel session titled “Building a Digital Economy: The Role of Government, Industry and Talent in Shaping the Future.”
The session will bring together representatives from financial services, technology, government and the private sector to discuss how different stakeholders can collaborate in developing sustainable and interconnected digital solutions.
Discussions will also cover issues including interoperability, cybersecurity, data protection, system resilience and the ability of digital infrastructure to respond to changing customer and business needs.
Another key session will be a fireside chat titled “Driving Digital Transformation Through Public-Private Partnerships.” It will feature Nomso Ebonwu, Honourable Commissioner for Commerce & Industry, Anambra State Government, and Robinta Aluyi, Chief Sales Officer at Interswitch, with Suliat Aliyu, Head of Partnership at Interswitch, serving as moderator.
The programme will also include product showcases highlighting Interswitch’s payment and digital commerce capabilities and their potential applications across businesses, financial institutions and public-sector organisations.
Interswitch said the central objective of TechConnect 6.0 is to encourage conversations around how financial infrastructure can evolve alongside changing markets, technology and customer behaviour.
The company noted that as businesses increasingly embrace digital operations and public institutions seek more efficient service-delivery systems, adaptable and interconnected financial infrastructure will become increasingly important.
Following the Owerri edition, TechConnect 6.0 is scheduled to continue in Abuja on October 13, Ibadan on October 22 and Lagos on October 27, 2026.
The four-city series is expected to provide stakeholders with opportunities to exchange ideas, share practical experiences and examine the innovations, infrastructure and partnerships needed to support the continued development of digital finance in Nigeria.
