Brazilian social media influencer Duda Alves has died at the age of 22, weeks after undergoing breast reduction surgery.
Alves, whose full name was Maria Eduarda Alves dos Santos, was a popular content creator with more than 800,000 followers across TikTok and Instagram. She was known for sharing lifestyle content, personal experiences and videos featuring friends and her partner.
Her death was confirmed by family members and friends, while her burial took place at São João Paulo II Parish in Brasília on September 15, 2026.
The Civil Police of the Federal District confirmed that the circumstances surrounding her death are being investigated as a suspected suicide, but authorities have not released further details, citing the privacy of her family.
Days before her death, Alves had spoken publicly about her recovery from breast reduction surgery. In a TikTok video posted on September 9, she discussed criticism she had received over the procedure and explained that she had chosen to undergo the surgery for comfort and aesthetic reasons.
In another video shared during her recovery, Alves said she had experienced significant pain, vomiting and emotional distress approximately three weeks after the procedure. However, available reports do not establish that the surgery or her reported recovery symptoms caused or directly contributed to her death.
Following her death, relatives and friends paid tribute to the young influencer, describing her as a loving and memorable person whose presence had touched those around her.
Her cousin, Geovana Alves, shared an emotional tribute recalling the years they spent together and the memories they created. Other friends also expressed their grief and remembered Alves for her personality, kindness and the impact she had on their lives.
Alves’ death has drawn widespread attention among her followers, many of whom have continued to share tributes and messages of condolence on social media as investigations into the circumstances of her death continue.
