The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has reiterated its support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, following the appointment of Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, as the state coordinator of the President’s revised Presidential Campaign Council.
The party’s position underscores its political cooperation with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), while maintaining its ambition to contest legislative seats in Anambra State.
APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, congratulated Soludo on his appointment, describing it as recognition of the governor’s leadership and advocacy for strategic cooperation between the party and the Federal Government.
Opara said APGA had adopted Tinubu as its consensus presidential candidate at a meeting of its National Executive Committee and during the President’s working visit to Anambra State on May 8, 2025.
According to him, the party’s decision informed its resolve not to field a presidential candidate in the 2027 general election.
He added that Soludo’s political philosophy, captured in the expression “Progressives are Working Together,” reflected APGA’s position on collaboration with the Federal Government.
Opara also maintained that the relationship had facilitated cooperation on infrastructure and economic development initiatives in Anambra State.
Reaffirming the party’s electoral strategy, the spokesman said APGA would support Tinubu’s presidential ambition while continuing to contest legislative positions within the state.
He expressed confidence that Soludo would draw on his political experience and influence across the Southeast to mobilise support for the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Tinubu is listed as chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, serving as vice-chairmen.
Soludo’s inclusion in the council highlights the political relationship between APGA and the APC ahead of the 2027 general election.
The party’s position also reflects its stated intention to maintain its independent electoral presence in Anambra State while supporting Tinubu at the presidential level.
