Fidelity Bank’s FundHer programme has supported Akara Café in expanding its business operations and introducing Pavillon, a premium sub-brand that marks a new chapter in the company’s growth journey.
The initiative provided the business with access to financing at a critical stage of its expansion, enabling it to invest in developing the new brand while preserving working capital for its existing operations.
According to Martha Essienanwan E., the support came at a time when Akara Café was exploring an opportunity to create a premium brand that would build on its existing business while offering customers a different experience.
She explained that although the opportunity presented exciting prospects, the financial demands of launching a new venture required careful planning to ensure that the expansion did not place unnecessary pressure on the company’s day-to-day operations.
Through FundHer, Akara Café was able to secure additional financing to cover some of the costs associated with developing its premium sub-brand while maintaining sufficient resources to sustain its existing business.
Essienanwan E. noted that access to funding goes beyond receiving financial assistance, stressing that it provides growing businesses with the flexibility to make strategic decisions, pursue new opportunities and expand without disrupting established operations.
She also commended the support received from the bank’s Account Manager, Ms. Racheal, describing her as responsive, supportive and readily available to provide guidance throughout the process.
According to her, the assistance made the financing process easier and more seamless, particularly as the business navigated the various demands associated with its expansion.
The opening of Pavillon, Akara Café’s newest branch in Abuja, represents a significant milestone in the company’s development. The premium establishment reflects its ambition to extend its brand into a new market segment while building on the foundation of its existing business.
For Akara Café, Pavillon represents more than an additional location. It demonstrates the company’s commitment to growth, innovation and exploring new business opportunities.
Essienwan E. explained that transforming the idea into a physical establishment required considerable planning, investment and dedication, adding that access to appropriate financial support helped the business take the necessary steps towards achieving its goal.
She further observed that business growth often comes through a series of deliberate decisions rather than a single major breakthrough, noting that access to financing at the right time can make a significant difference in turning opportunities into tangible results.
Expressing appreciation to Fidelity Bank, she acknowledged the role of the FundHer programme in supporting the company’s expansion and helping it pursue its ambition of building a stronger and more diversified brand.
As Akara Café looks to the future, the business remains focused on expanding its reach, creating memorable customer experiences and exploring new opportunities.
With the introduction of Pavillon, the company is positioning itself for its next phase of growth, viewing the new establishment as the beginning of further possibilities.
