Security agencies have rescued eight persons abducted by suspected kidnappers in Millennium City and Maraban Rido communities of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The victims were freed between October 31 and November 2, 2026, during coordinated security operations involving the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force and the military, with support from the Kaduna State Government.
The state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press briefing at the DSS Command Headquarters in Kaduna.
Rabiu said the operations were part of ongoing efforts to track down and dismantle criminal networks responsible for repeated kidnappings in Millennium City and surrounding communities.
He noted that the persistent abductions had raised serious concerns about the safety of residents and other stakeholders in the affected areas.
The rescued victims were identified as Jamila Muhammad, Talatu Yakubu, Yunana Bawa, Calista Bishop, Chidinma Onuwere, Eucharia Obi, Godiya Victor and eight-year-old Miracle Alex.
The latest development comes weeks after security operatives rescued Ahmad Zakka and members of his family from captivity on October 15, 2026.
Rabiu described the successive rescue operations as a demonstration of the commitment of security agencies to freeing abducted persons and dismantling criminal networks across the state.
He commended the Office of the National Security Adviser for its coordination, the police for their operational support, the DSS for its intelligence efforts and the military for its contributions.
He also praised Governor Uba Sani and the Kaduna State Government for their continued cooperation and support in tackling kidnapping and banditry.
The commissioner further announced plans to deploy additional security personnel and equipment, including 30 patrol vans and eight armoured personnel carriers, to strengthen security operations and improve coverage in vulnerable communities.
Acknowledging that difficult terrain in some parts of the state posed challenges to security operations, Rabiu assured residents that efforts to combat kidnappers and bandits would be intensified.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with timely and credible information about the identities, activities and movements of suspected criminals.
