VeryDarkMan, a popular Nigerian social media critic, has publicly clashed with his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, over Adeyanju’s warning to avoid taking unnecessary risks in his activism. Adeyanju expressed concern about VeryDarkMan’s safety, stating that if anything happens to him, everyone will move on, saying, “We only overrate ourselves, Nigerians don’t rate anybody”.
VeryDarkMan dismissed Adeyanju’s advice as “coward talk,” arguing that anyone suggesting Nigerians would quickly forget him is either misinformed or attempting to silence his activism. He emphasized that his platform gives him the courage to speak boldly, unlike Adeyanju’s more cautious approach.
Adeyanju claims he constantly urges VeryDarkMan to be careful and stop taking unnecessary risks, but VeryDarkMan doesn’t listen most of the time. VeryDarkMan believes that his platform gives him the freedom to take risks, while Adeyanju prioritizes caution and self-preservation. He stated that life is fragile and unpredictable, and people should stand by their convictions rather than be deterred by fear.
VeryDarkMan also pointed out that some people who don’t take risks still get killed in their homes, citing incidents in Benue, Borno, Taraba, Delta State, and Enugu. He added that even Jesus died, and the world moved on, so the fear of being forgotten shouldn’t stop anyone from fighting for truth and justice.
In his response, VeryDarkMan expressed disappointment in Adeyanju’s post, especially since he’s a comrade in activism. He emphasized that people should focus on standing up for what they believe in rather than being swayed by fear or concerns about what others might think.
