Fidelity Bank Plc has promoted 433 employees under its 2026 Promotion and Notch Award Exercise, representing approximately 13 per cent of the bank’s workforce.
The latest exercise marks an increase from the 12 per cent and 11 per cent recorded in 2025 and 2024 respectively, when 376 and 337 employees were promoted.
According to the bank, the annual exercise is part of its commitment to recognising employee contributions, rewarding strong performance and strengthening a culture of excellence across the organisation.
Since the appointment of Nneka Onyeali Ikpe as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Fidelity Bank has continued to implement annual promotion exercises aimed at recognising staff contributions, developing institutional capacity and building a strong pipeline of future leaders.
Beyond career progression, the bank has also introduced various initiatives focused on employee welfare, productivity, workplace satisfaction and staff wellbeing.
Fidelity Bank increased salaries across its various categories and grade levels in 2022, 2024 and 2025. The bank has also provided staff buses to support commuting, strengthened medical support and expanded its learning and development programmes.
In addition, the bank extended its mortgage loan and home ownership scheme to employees from the Assistant Banking Executive to Deputy Manager cadres, while increasing the applicable mortgage limits for qualified staff in response to prevailing market conditions. The initiative places Fidelity Bank among institutions providing mortgage support to employees below the Manager cadre.
The bank has further sustained programmes aimed at promoting employee engagement, collaboration and work-life balance, while supporting professional certification and continuous skills development.
These initiatives, according to industry observers, have contributed to Fidelity Bank’s profile as an attractive workplace and employer within Nigeria’s financial services sector.
The 2026 promotion exercise forms part of the bank’s broader people strategy, which focuses on attracting, developing, rewarding and retaining talent while recognising discipline, professionalism, innovation, customer focus and sustained performance.
The strategy is also designed to prepare employees for greater responsibilities and strengthen the bank’s workforce as it continues to expand its operations.
Fidelity Bank Plc is a full-fledged Commercial Deposit Money Bank serving more than 10 million customers through digital banking channels, its 255 business offices across Nigeria and its United Kingdom subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited.
The bank has received several local and international recognitions, including the 2025 Development Bank of Nigeria Innovation Award for MSME support, Best Retail and SME Bank Award from Independent Newspapers, Best Bank for Export & Trade Finance and Most Innovative Bank of the Year at the 2025 BusinessDay Banks and Financial Institutions Awards.
It was also named Nigeria’s Best Private Bank at the 2025 Euromoney Awards and received the inaugural Most Improved Commercial Bank of the Year award from Nairametrics, the SME Bank of the Year award from NewsDirect and the Straight-Through Processing Excellence Award from Citi Group.
