Fidelity Bank Plc, in partnership with Foremost Radiology, is intensifying efforts to promote breast cancer awareness and encourage women to seek timely medical attention when they notice unusual changes in their breasts.
The initiative, driven through HerFidelity, the bank’s women-focused proposition, forms part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Breast cancer may present through symptoms such as a lump or thickening in the breast, changes in breast size or shape, skin or nipple changes, and unusual nipple discharge. Some of these symptoms may occur without pain.
Although such changes do not automatically indicate cancer, medical professionals advise that unusual symptoms should be assessed promptly. Early diagnosis and access to appropriate treatment can improve outcomes for people affected by the disease.
Through the campaign, HerFidelity aims to move breast cancer awareness beyond statistics and symbolic activities by encouraging informed conversations, appropriate checks and professional medical evaluation.
Established to support women through financial services, business education, capacity development, entrepreneurship and wellness initiatives, HerFidelity reflects Fidelity Bank’s broader approach to women’s empowerment.
The bank recognises that empowering women extends beyond access to capital to include the knowledge, resources and wellbeing needed to build sustainable businesses and make informed decisions.
As part of its health and wellness initiatives, HerFidelity is collaborating with Foremost Radiology to increase awareness of breast cancer and encourage women to prioritise their health.
A key activity is a webinar titled “Beyond the Lump: The Role of Awareness and Imaging in Early Breast Cancer Detection.”
Scheduled for Friday, October 16, 2026, at 10 a.m. West African Time, the virtual session will feature Dr Alabi, a Consultant Radiation and Clinical Oncologist.
The session is expected to provide insights into breast cancer, its possible warning signs, the role of medical imaging and the importance of seeking timely professional assessment. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and obtain information to support informed decisions about their breast health.
Beyond the webinar, HerFidelity plans to extend the campaign to Oyingbo Market in Lagos through a breast health screening and awareness outreach scheduled for October 25, 2026.
The outreach is designed to bring breast health information closer to women in one of Lagos’s busy commercial communities, encouraging them to recognise unusual changes and seek appropriate medical attention.
The campaign is anchored on the message, “Know, Check, Act,” which encourages women to understand their bodies, pay attention to unusual changes and consult qualified health professionals when necessary.
According to the organisers, the objective is to promote awareness without creating unnecessary fear, while helping women make informed decisions about their health.
The initiative also highlights the connection between women’s health and economic empowerment. Through HerFidelity, Fidelity Bank provides women with access to funding opportunities, business education, mentorship, networking and wellness programmes.
Its funding initiatives support women seeking capital to establish or expand their businesses, while its business education and capacity-building programmes provide knowledge to strengthen business management and sustainable growth.
The entrepreneurship support pillar focuses on mentorship and development opportunities for women business owners, while the health and wellness component recognises the importance of wellbeing in helping women manage their businesses, support their families and contribute to their communities.
By combining financial inclusion with health awareness, Fidelity Bank is reinforcing its commitment to a broader approach to women’s empowerment, encompassing economic security, knowledge and personal wellbeing.
