The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dominated the Lagos State local government elections, securing all 57 chairmanship seats and 375 out of 376 councillorship positions. The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) announced the results on Sunday, July 13, 2025, after the elections held on Saturday, July 12.
The APC’s sweeping victory reinforces its strong grip on grassroots politics in Lagos State. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) managed to win only one seat, with Babatunde Dosunmu, a former APC member who defected to the PDP, emerging victorious in the Yaba LCDA ward. Dosunmu’s win is seen as a notable exception to the APC’s otherwise dominant performance.
